Windsurfing: Levington Wind Direction: wnw Wind Stength: 15/20 Surf / Sea State: river chop Air Temperature: 6 Sea Temperature: 10 Weather: cloudy mainly Max Speed: 24.20 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 20 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
With a bit of breeze and not too cold and a good tide Levington was the
only option with the wnw wind. I got to Levington Marina just before midday
just as the sun disappeared :( by the time I had rigged it had started to
rain !!! The rain soon went but the wind was fairly light and if it was the
summer I would have rigged the 9.4, I was out nearly an hour to start with
mainly sailing on the Levington corner but didn't make 20kts :( I then beat
past Levington creek and had a few broad reaches back breaking 20 kts for
the first time but my hands were now painfully cold so I returned to the
van - diesel heater on, warmed up asnd a quick snack I headed out again.
The wind had filled in a little and I got my best times with a 24 kt max
and it was great to be out again with hundreds of birds especially opposite
Levington creek where every time I sailed near the shore 100 Avocets took
to the air an amazing sight :) The sun even managed to come out for awhile
so I called a day as my hands again to hurt once more. So not a bad couple
of hours out considering the air temp. was only 6 degrees but the nice
thing about the longboard is you can stay fairly dry and hopefully not fall
in !!! The day got better on the way home when and saw 30 partridges
crossing the road in front of me at the entrance to Levington Marina and
then I saw several waxwings as I neared Trimley - shame it was too dark to
get a good picture !!!
